APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: october/november
BUDGET: $1,500
SYSTEM USAGE: gaming
PARTS NOT REQUIRED: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, OS
PARTS PREFERENCES: intel over amd, nvidia over ati, stuff that won't melt when i overclock
OVERCLOCKING: Yes
SLI: Yes
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: very price-sensitive

questions:
0. should i build this PC by myself? or get cyberpowerinc.com or ibuypower.com to do it for me?

1. what motherboard would you guys recommend? i want to go the ASUS P6T route, but am still unsure. i need one that supports nvidia SLI and also can run PC1600 DDR3 ram at a non-overclocked rate. i also need the motherboard to be compatible with overclocking the i7 920 (i want at least 3 ghz).

2. currently, the price is around $1500 shipped at cyberpowerinc.com and ibuypower.com for similarly configured systems. aside from buying all the parts and putting it together myself, are there any other good websites out there that can let you customize a computer for fairly cheap?

3. would you guys recommend a better brand power supply for running 2 nvidia cards (SLI)? it's rated for 700 watts but it's a stock brand, so 700 watts is its peak, not constant. though it states SLI ready. a friend recommended a 800 watt setup for what i spec'ed below.

4. should i get a beefier fan/cooling system if i am overclocking to around 3 ghz? what is the general limit of OC for the i7 920?

planned specs so far:

* POWER SUPPLY: 700 Watts (SLI/CrossFire Ready Power Supply)
* CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-920 2.66 GHz 8M L3 Cache LGA1366
* COOLING FAN : Intel LGA1366 Certified CPU Fan & Heatsink
* MOTHERBOARD: ??????????
* MEMORY: 12GB (2GBx6) DDR3/1600MHz Triple Channel Memory Module (Corsair or Major Brand)
* VIDEO CARD: NVIDIA GeForce GTX275 896MB 16X PCIe Video Card (Major Brand Powered by NVIDIA)
* VIDEO CARD 2: NVIDIA GeForce GTX275 896MB 16X PCIe Video Card (Major Brand Powered by NVIDIA)
* MULTIPLE VIDEO CARD SETTINGS: Xtreme Performance in SLI/CrossFireX Gaming Mode Supports Single Monitor
* HARD DRIVE: Single Hard Drive (1TB (1TBx1) SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 16MB Cache 7200RPM HDD)
* Optical Drive: Sony 20X Double Layer Dual Format DVD+-R/+-RW + CD-R/RW Drive (BLACK COLOR)
* SOUND: HIGH DEFINITION ON-BOARD 7.1 AUDIO
* NETWORK: Onboard Gigabit LAN Network
* OS: NONE - FORMAT HARD DRIVE ONLY

open to any suggestions you guys have

thank you!

MWave.com will let you choose your parts and then assemble and test them for $80

Drop the RAM to 6GB;
You'll want a good CPU cooler for OC'ing
For OC'ing the CPU and both video cards a 700W PSU better be an excellent PSU, not an average model.
