Hi All,

First time posting although I read posts here for 6 months.

I'm working on a new build around Win7 (have pre-ordered Win 7 Pro)

I've slowing been buying some parts, what I currently have is:

Antec P180 case will be migrated from current system to new build
XFX Radeon 4890 (running in current system)
3-1 TB Western Digital Green hard drives for storage (all running in current system)
OCZ 600 watt Mod Stream X modular power supply
3-120mm Enermax MAGMA fans (1 for CPU and 2 for case)
OCZ 4GB (2 X 2GB) DDR 1600 Gold AMD edition
Xigmatek HDT-S1283 heatsink

looking to buy in 3-4 weeks:
AMD Phenom II X4 955
ASUS M4A79XTD-EVO motherboard (or ASUS Crosshair III - has better onboard sound chip but not as new)
Patriot Torx PFZ128 SSD drive (currently $375 at Newegg)
DVD burner (Plextor or Lite-on) - must be silent

So, anyone have any opinions + or - for the two different ASUS mobo's I have picked out?

Also, I'm really starting to 2nd think the SSD drive esp. after I saw it jump up in price recently. I could get WD Black 500GB drives and stripe 2 or 3 of them for really good performance. Since the WD Caviar Black 500's are like $70 each I could get 3 for $210 or 2 for $140. Then say 4-5 months from now the SSD drive could be less money, possibly faster, and possibly higher capacity for less money now. If I striped 2-500GB WD Black's it would be $230 less money now than 1 good 128GB drive. The big downside for me is doing that I'd have to rebuild Win7 in 4-5 months (probably not possible to image from striped drives to a single drive) and maybe 4-5 months the SSD drives will be more money and not much faster. Cost isn't really that big of a deal, although I'd love to get a 160GB ish SSD drive although the Intel Writes aren't fast enough and its a lot more money. The other downside to getting 2 or 3 WD drives to stripe is extra power, heat, and noise. Any thoughts?

My new system build goals are:

1. Silence is critical (except when gaming)
2. Good gaming performance on 1920 x 1200 27.5" monitor
3. fast responsive and stable machine
4. machine that will last 3-4 years (will probably still upgrade video card in that time)
5. machine will be storage for network

Questions:
1. ASUS Crosshair III mobo to ASUS M4A79XTD-EVO motherboard
2. buy $375 SSD drive now that is only 128GB or wait 4-5 months and get 2 or 3 striped WD Black 500GB drives
3. does anyone have any recommendations for a RAID enclosure to put my storage drives in (must be NAS, hold 4-5 drives, do RAID 5, must be silent) - this would allow me to turn off main machine more.
4. Any DVD burner recommendations - must be silent - no jet engine when spinning up- must be black and reliable with good burn speeds and good audio extraction.
5. Any other comments?

Thanks, Stoddo2k9
