Imega harddrive shows on mac but not pc

Hello,
my dads iomega external hard drive was first used in south africa on his mac. I have it now in australia and when i plug it in to my pc laptop it wont even recognise that it's there. The light comes on and I get the install tone from the laptop, but it's not on the "my computer"screen? Help me please

It might be formatted with a Mac filesystem. If so, then you will need to reformat it with NTFS or FAT32 so that Windows can use it.

Thanks "PhilFrisbie" for replying so quickly. Firstly without sounding like a twit, are NTFS and FAT32 programs I need to download and do I do this on my Mac?

I am sorry I was not more clear. Drives must be formatted properly to be recognized, and Windows needs the drive to be formatted using the NTFS or FAT32 file system.

PhilFrisbie- Again thank you very much for your help. Once my friend had done it .I went back and had a crack at doing it myself, to make sure I could do it. Thanks for your help and again for responding so quickly.
