I am new to AV stuffs. I plan to setup my system by HDMI cable only, no DVI/optical/SPDIF/component etc.
I am thinking to connect my PC to AV Receiver, let AVR to decode the audio and output video to PC monitor.
What I worry is the video output from AC receiver to monitor, will it scale to 1920*1080 or it can maintain the default resolution, like 1920*1200? In simple words, I wish to get only audio decoded and let the video passthrough.
This is my setup using only HDMI:-
VGA card --> soundcard
soundcard --> AVR
AVR --> speaker & PC monitor (1920*1200)
This is the instruction from soundcard manual , only difference is I want to change the video output to monitor instead of TV.
I have another setup in mind, If this works then my problem is solved :-)
VGA card --> PC monitor (HDMI or DVI)
soundcard --> AVR (HDMI)
So video and audio is split up, no worry of resolution. However am i able to watch blu-ray movie with powerdvd with this setup?
