Is it possible to not have the security alert icon in the sys tray?
The balloon pops up because I'm using my own firewall and antivirus which
sp2 acknowledges but cannot identify and automatic update is turned off.
This balloon pop up slows down the loading of the Zone Alarm firewall and I
can upgrade it to the recent version but there have been a variety of
problems with the v5 of Zone Alarm so I have waited for that to get stable.
The Norton 2002 appears to be working and is up to date with sp2 coding but
not according to sp2
I'm faithful with checking the update site and automatic update isn't my
choice.
Other than that the installation and operation of Sp2 went smoothly and
appears to be operating as usual.

Re: Is it possible to not have the security alert icon in the sys tray?
Figured it out for myself.
The automatic updates cannot be 'just turned off'.
Turn on automatic update
And
Configuring the update properties to be 'notify me' is sufficient -the
security icon leaves the system tray.
