Why does my computer time out

I have a packard bell intel pentium which is apprx 3 years old and I have a problem with internet connection timing out.
We were on a internet dongle but it as more trouble than it was worth so we have a new isp wifi isp our lap top and android is ok but the desk top keeps timing out it is a real pain you have to re-boot

System specs on the computer, how you are connected to internet would be nice to know, to give some suggestions.
Anything reported in event viewer to research ?
