Creative audiopci es1371 equivalent to direct x9

hi, i have a creative es1371 card on which I am running MicroSoft Flight Simulator 2004. Looking to buy a later version MS FX which requires a Direct X 9 equivalent. Is the one I have equivalent.

To the best of my understanding, DirectX 9 is a video API, and the creative card is an audio device. So there is no relation between the two.
