Hello, I am looking at building a small server with 24GB of ram, the only 2 brands i see for ECC all over the place are Patriot and Wintec are those crappy brands? Should i stick with something like Kingston non ECC The speed and latency of the ram doesn't really matter as long as i have a lot

Or if any of you have suggestions i dont really want to spend over $1,400 for 24GB.

At work, we've always had good luck with Crucial - it's always been high quality for us.

That's not exactly what we ended up with. Usually the Ballistix trace series has LEDs and is intended as desktop performance memory.

If you search server memory at newegg and check the box for crucial, you'll get plenty of results.

I'll second the vote for Crucial. At the very least, keep that site book marked as a reference for looking up systems to see what spec memory is specified.

But to the original question, those are both reputable brands. Average, but reputable.

newegg has no results for 24GB options for ECC 3x4GB unless i missed something. I have always used Kingston and crucial the 2 brands on newegg looked like a good price and $1,000 for 24GB isn't bad. Thanks everyone.
