Can someone help me reconnect my wired network. We went wireless some time ago but now want to go back to a wired set up for at least one of the computers in the house. We have Cat 5 cabling throughout the house but I can't figure how to connect the router to the switch and get it running through those wires. The original set up used a satellite modem to my computer which I believe then ran to the switch in the closet and branched out from there. We now have a "Startouch" modem that gets its signal from a tower. I am able to connect my ethernet router to the modem and connect directly but I don't know how to run the connection to the whole house. The outlet by my desk has the old satellite connectors with network jacks above them labeled RX and TX. Above those two jack are two more jacks, one with tape over it labeled RX, the other not labeled at all. I belive one of these travels into the closet and then splits into two which are inserted into the switch on either ends. The other wired on the switch go to other rooms in the house. My questions: 1. Do I run the router to the switch and if so, which outlet do you think is the right one. 2. We want to keep our wireless system as well, so should I plug the wireless system into the wired router as well or just leave it plugged into the modem. Any help is appreciated. I do have picture but at this point I'm not sure the website allows me to attach them.
