So, ive been having this issue,i assume, for months and havent gotten a strait answer from anyone. my GTX 275 which i bought in May, 2009 was supposed to be an enthusiast card and able to play all my CoDs at 1920x 1080 and even Crysis AT LEAST at 1920 x 1080 on medium and get good frame rates. well my issue seems to be that my cpu holds my GPU back. heres my setup:
Athlon x2 5400 (mild OC)
EVGA GTX 275 (mild OC)
4 GB 800 mhz DDR2
MSI K9N2 SLI Platinum mobo
750w utra LSP2 PSU
ive done benchmarks such as running at 1920 x 1080 and turning it down to 1024 x 768 and my results were VERY CLOSE. on MW2 id start a private game, same map and class amd w8 for the countdown to end then use fraps and NOT MOVE and record a 10 sec bechmark. Heres my results.
1920 x 1080:min 78, max 83, avg 80.42
1024 x 768: min 71, max 87, avg 82.67
as you can see its weird and i experience a hard time playing SP on MW2 i guess cause the cpu needs to calculate physx and the game since MW2 isnt physx enabled on the GPU. ive done a similar thing like this on crysis and got the same results.

Now to conclude i am receiving a core i5 750 and Asus Maximus III Formula for x-mas so if this is the issue it SHOULD be fixed then but even so id like to know why my GPU isnt going to its full potential.

Oh, and will i ACTUALLY see a noticeable speed difference w/ a core i5 vs. an athlon x2 not just in benchmarks but in basic startup of win 7 and such.

Thx for anyone who comments and replies!

In gaming you probably wont see much difference, but you should see a difference in benchmarks.
As far as W7 start up...?? Well you will probably have to re-install windows so you will have a clean
fresh HDD to work with.

thanks to everyone, ive concluded i do ahve a bad bottleneck and itll be fixed when i get my core i5. after reading the article given to me it makes sense since i experience the most lag when physics are being calculated or AIs are being used in the game. Thanks for all your help!
