My current homebuilt is elderly - athlon 64 @ 2ghz single core, agp graphics. I game on my summer 2009 MacBook Pro which is a pretty good experience but it gets really loud and hot. I'm curious about some of the new p55 builds and dx11-compatible cards. Is the power draw and fan technology improved enough since my build 5 years ago to get a quiet gaming build? I don't have many salvageable parts besides a hard disk and a corsair 450 PSU. Is it worth upgrading or will the mac suffice until the technology curve moves a little more?
