I had a 500 gb hdd...i had given 73.5 for os ...and nw mt system is running slow

I am going to suppose you mean you partitioned 73.5GB of the 500GB HDD to the OS. But in order for us to help you, you need to tell us everything about your PC. What OS did you install, what is your processor type and speed, RAM, Video card.

well there ya go.. Windows 7 is a pretty taxing OS. 1GB of RAM is barely enough to run it. I would boost it to at least 2GBs if not more.. and the Intel Atom is also barely enough to run. Its going to be slow either way you look at it.

I actually kept WinXP on my netbook. With 2GB of RAM and same process its runs great.
 
Your drive size has nothing to do with how fast the computer will run. It's a bad idea to partition things anyway, everyone will end up wishing they had more room on the C drive.

As above, atom with 1 gig RAM is a bit slow for Windows. Especially if you are looking to play video or games.
