i just buit a new computer but i keep getting a bsod when i try to install xp (thats what the person i built for it wants) i tried win 7 rc and it worked they didnt like it. The xp is a old disk. i took the hard drive out and put it in my set up and it ran the installed fine, but when i put it back in the other build it said there was an error with the disk. the set up is

antec ill 300
HP 24X Multiformat DVD Writer Black SATA Model
GIGABYTE GA-MA785GM-US2H AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 785G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ 500GB
OCZ Platinum 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066
AMD Phenom II X3 720 2.8GHz
consair 400watt power supply

Enter BIOS and find a setting for AHCI

set this to disable

Fond the setting for Native IDE mode

set this to enable

And then XP should install .
BUT
because its original XP it wont be able to partition and format the entire hard drive . It will only see around 130 Gb .
There is a solution to this problem [ a couple actually ] but slip streaming sp2 onto a new XP DVD is probably the best way
