2X2GB DDR3 GSKILLS on ASUS P6T?

Currently I have 6GB Corsair XMS3 and wanted to add 4 more to make 10. I ordered a 4GB DDR3 GSKILL memory, will it work with my Asus P6T Deluxe V2? Do DDR3 Rams need to be in sets of three? Asus p6T Deluxe says it can only take TRIPPLE CHANNEL. Does that mean only sets of three will work or that the ram needs to be DDR3?

A pair is two, not three. Unless the G.Skill memory has very similar characteristics to the Corsair, you'll probably run into issues. Why not order identical memory to what you already have?

I meant to say "SET" of three or two. So why is it bad idea to pair two different companies together? Lets say 6GB Corsair XMS3 and 6GB GSKILL both ddr3.

Can you provide a link to the Corsair kit? There are several and they all have slightly different specs.

Hi newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

My advice, don't waste your money. I'm really sure that you don't need 10GB of RAM, so, IMO with 6GB in tri-channel is more that enough for now. If you want upgrade something, I would go for a SSD or a mobo with SATA III and USB 3.0

It all depends on what he uses his system for. I know for sure that I could use more than 8GB on my VM server.
