Compaq Presario SR1720NX

I'm not really tech savy but I have a Comcast motorola wireless router that is hooked up with an ethernet cord to my old desktop. Is there anyway possible that I can make my Compaq connect wirelessly to the router? I would love to move the computer out of my room; the router can't be moved because the guy who set it up drilled the cable to be in this room only..please help??

yes you can do this with a usb wifi dongle would go for one with a docking station as having wifi addaptors in the back of the pc might hamper its signal
