Thanks to a delay in getting a Socket 1156 adapter plate, it appears my i5-750 system will be using a stock heatsink / fan for the first week of its life. That's fine... will just use that time to re-download games and what-not, but it did bring up some questions.
Does thermal paste completely come off? I can see the i5-750 heatsink has some pre-applied thermal paste on it and I'm pretty sure I'll want that crud off my processor when my real heatsink arrives.
Is it generally a good idea to remove a processor BEFORE attempting to clean off the old thermal paste?
Does anyone have any experience ordering parts from the Coolermaster store? They seem to be taking their sweet time getting me a 1156 adapter.
That's all I got! Hope everyone is having a great day.
My suggestion woulda been to use the Prolimatech Megahalems or Shadow w/ the new universal backplate for 775, 1366, 1156. Hss to b the easiest aftermarket HS install ever.
As for the paste, I'd completely disassemble everything including taking MoBo out and getting a good light on it to see if any spread itself off the chip and onto the board. I have used isopropyl alcohol from the local drugstore to clean mine.

I had some very serious size constraints thanks to my case so I went with a Coolermaster Hyper N520. Wasn't going for insane overclocks... just something nicer than the stock heatsink/fan. Consider its cost, I think I made the right choice for my application... although I gotta say that's a good cooler you recommended.
