Built my new computer yesterday and my windows 7 boots very quick all up until i type my password and the welcome screen pops up and takes about 10 seconds before it goes into windows. I've build alot of computers with windows 7 in the past and this has never been an issue. I've read that people with solid backgrounds run into the same problem? but this was back in 2009 and I'm not running a solid wallpaper.

Heres my setup if it affects anything.
i7 2600k
intel 320 ssd (updated firmware)
gigabyte z68x-ud3h-b3
16gb g skill ram
800ax corsair
gtx 560 1gb
asus xonar.

If anyone has any input on this issue thatd be great! thanks!

Hi theflyho, not certain but was answering a similar question for another user whose system will not shutdown properly after installing windows 7 onto a new ssd.

Found this article which covers initial setup of ssd : http://www.zdnet.com/blog/bott/windows-7-and-ssds-setup-secrets-and-tune-up-tweaks/2910?pg=2

And this thread which covers much more detail; near the bottom is where some guy has similar startup/shutdown issues : http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18073901

Don't build my own pc's anymore, finally gave it up and got a laptop, but still like to help where and if i can.

Good reading and good luck :)
