Compaq presario m2000 laptop

what could cause the harddrive in my compaq presario m2000 to be unrecognized? tried 3-4 different harddrives and they spin and show getting power but when i try to install windows it keeps saying that there's no bootable device...i discovered that the cmos battery connection to the motherboard was only making contact on the neg. side...the pos. contact to motherboard solder has come apart.....could this have anything to do with the harddrive not being seen ? if not, could somebody please help me with this?

Have you fixed the CMOS battery connection? Yes, that will cause some problems.
