Can i convert my mobo to a similar model

my computer is a compaq sr1320nx, which has asus k8s-la mobo, but i wan't to install bios from a board that sus didn't make for hewlet packard, so can someone tell me waht model mobo i real have since compaq is trying to mask it from me

I advise against trying to install a non compaq bios if you want to continue using your compaq windows installation. A short compaq code in the current bios is checked each time you boot; with a non compaq board, you may get error messages or be unable to reinstall your backup cd's (if you have made them). You won't gain that much with the new bios. If you already have another windows cd, then you might as well change boards. You can sell your compaq board for a decent price; they are worth more than some other used boards due to the proprietary software issue.
