I cant get my Linksys wrt54g wireless router to make a connection

the router seems to work because all the appropriate lights light up but when i try to connect to the internet theres no connection. im trying to hook it up to my non wireless desktop and still be able to get wifi my computer picks it up but says theres no connection.

common issue is static electricity try unplugging it for 15 mins then plugging it back in.
