Data on WD My Passport but sayes file or directory is corrupted or

Hello,
Is there anyway possible for me to retrieve my documents stored on my WD My Passport? It has been working fine, up until I tried using it today

Run CHKDSK in readonly mode. This will tell you what is wrong with the file system.

Then try a comprehensive SMART diagnostic. Look for reallocated, pending, or uncorrectable sectors. This will tell you if the drive has physical problems.
