I am using a bfg 8600gts card now would it be a go choice to get a Asus eah4650 with 1gb ram

Is that HD 4650 GDDR2 or GDDR3? Cards with GDDR3 are faster than GDDR2 by a good margin, but even the HD 4650 GDDR3 is not that much faster than 8600 gts.

Definitely dont go with a DDR2 4650. I had that card and was very disappointed with it. As already posted, the DDR3 version should be quite a bit better, but still a marginal upgrade from the 8600 GTS. If you have the power supply for it, a HD4850 would be a good upgrade for around 100.00.

Perhaps you wont notice a performance difference between it and your existing 8600 gts. As frozentundra said, the HD 4850 is a good upgrade, but it requires 450W power supply.
