Trying to build a NAS / Server

Forum Storage : NAS/RAID Trying to build a NAS / Server

Currently I have an Edge10 with five bays (1.5Tb HDDs (Software RAID 0)). This space has already been filled and I need to expand it. Although I am not sure of the cheapest way to go around this.

Basically what hardware would be required to RAID twelve or more HDDs together?
Would it be possible to buy another Edge10 and buy identical drives in which to RAID the group of them together?
What is the cheapest option?

I do have an old PC which could be upgraded as a server.

*Also on an unrelated note: When installing the drives I use a PCI 2x E-SATA RAID controller. Upon boot into BIOS it will only display one drive making it impossible for me to hardware RAID. Why is this?*
