So currently I'm gaming on a computer I built at school out of a kit, it came standard with 1GB of RAM, etc. basic system really was only meant for us to "learn to use" computers on. A few minutes ago I remembered my old gaming PC was sitting in the closet with 4GB of RAM sticks in it, so I salvaged them and put them into this new system and it worked.... sort of.

I just put one (2GB stick) in to start and checked the system, it upped it by the entire 2GB--so after putting the second stick in (another 2GB stick) I checked my system and it only went up by .5GB of RAM. For a total of 3.5 instead of the full 5 that's in it. Any reason why?
