hi,
can anyone tell me why my win xp pro machine tries to do something with
dhcp setting which i have not set. it tries to resolve something which takes
up booting time. i want to cancel this setting.

my computer is in a network having win 2k3 std edt server. system admin
has not set dhcp as all the clients have static ip address.

thnks

Try executing IPCONFIG /ALL in a CMD window to see if any network interfaces
are set to use DHCP - perhaps something like a secondary network connection
is, even though the primary is set to static IP.

And if there is nothing using DHCP, then go to Control
Panel->Administrative Tools->Services, then go down to DHCP Client,
double-click it and set the Startup Type to manual (or disabled).
