the hard drive i'm using is a 500gb samsung ive had it for about 4-5 years and it was second hand when i bought, everything seems fine on the pc but i was just wondering if there was a way to see the health of it to know if you might need a new

usually hard drive manufacturers have a Diagnostic software on their website

if you want to run an extended test over several days, you could use a 30 day trial version of Active SMART.

open it, select S.M.A.R.T tab and select drive. Then click on "Perform an in-depth online analysis of this hard disk".
