Heat pipes

do heat pipes work as good as a standard fan cooling system?

  1. What do you mean? More heat pipes can dissipate more heat obviously, but if that heat is just going towards heating up your case then it isnt much good.

The best coolers have a lot of heatpipes with slow and silent fans venting the heat out of the case. They also tend to cost more for the same reasons.
  2. i am looking at getting a SAPPHIRE Ultimate HD 4670 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E graphics card. it has heat pipes and i want to know if it is better than standard cooling systems.
  3. Can you post a link to it?
  4. Ok thanks for linking that.

The 4670 isn't hot nor power hungry so yes it is able to dissipate heat a lot easier using a large heatsink alone.

If you have otherwise decent case cooling (ie a front intake fan and a side and/or rear exhaust fan) then you should be good to go with that.
  5. sweet, thanks
