Thank you in advance for any advice or feed back you may have. I have just recently built a new computer (evga gtx260, core i7 920, EVGA X58 3x Sli mobo, 6gig of G.Skill ram, running at 1333, 850watt psu).
For the first week the computer ran great, I was getting about 30 to 40 fps for crysis on high settings and 1680 x 1050 resolution but sadly my graphics card decided to abruptly quit working. Temps at time of failure were around 50C so I don't think its a heat issue, so I figured I just got a bad card and I sent it back for replacement. I just got my new card last night and installed it and had some surprising results....
First off i'm running Windows 7 Pro (not beta its through msdn), windows 7 has quick tool to measure your systems configuration for certain computing aspects. With my old card windows had rated my computer as being a 7.2 out of 7.9 for Gaming. With my current card windows has rated my computer as being 4.9 out of 7.9 for gaming and I'm only getting 2fps on crysis on medium settings.
I ran some other tests, FSB is running at nearly 2 GHZ, ram is running at 1333, cpu cores are all running at 2.8 but i'm getting killed on GPU for some reason. I reseated the GPU, checked power connections, reinstalled drivers....ect.
Any thoughts, or do I have another bad card? Like I said the old card performed as expected until it died. This card is running slower than my 64mb Geforce 3.
