I'm trying to decide between a Workstation (Xeon 5520) or i5 860 build for Adobe CS4/ HD graphics. People have said get 12GB Ram for After Effects and you won't have a cache problem... Anybody with experience on this? I'd like to keep the build under $2000. thanks

In my point of veiw, for processor you can go for Dual Xeon 5520 (Quad core, Nehalm architecture). Quad core would be sufficient to met your requirement. To know about Intel Nehalm based processors:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Nehalem_(microarchitecture)

If you use the system for professional 3D/graphics application then the suggestion would go for nVIDIA's workstation graphics card nVIDIA Quadro FX1800 or if you have enough money go for Quadro FX4600. For Graphics card reference:

12GB RAM is (more than) enough to serve your purpose.

Could you please inform about your Workstation configuration as well as i5 860 build? At least what you are planning.
