*I don't really care for memory space as much as I do for speed, 500gb is PLENTY for me

I would go with the Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB all the way... You get larger capacity at a lower price and basically the same performance (SATA III mechanical drives really provide no benefit, as they don't come close to even saturating the SATA II controller).
