If they are both the same ie SATA just slap it in.

To put W7 on it just go into bios and boot/install to the new HDD.

So I would connect the hard drive, than start of the machine, add the new hard drive as a slave drive and than put in the windows 7 disc and reboot system, choose slave drive and install windows 7?

After you install the hdd then go into bios, it should show the new hdd.

Set to boot from CD,(with the W7 CD in) then when prompted by W7 install
to the new hdd.
