My TV broke, so until I get it fixed, I would like to view my Direct TV recordings on my laptop. I am using a Nvidia "GeForce 9600M GT" for my laptop. Is there any way I can use my HDMI cable from the DVR and send the signal to my laptop? My laptop has a HDMI extension, but I'm not sure if it is only an HDMI "OUT", because the laptop is not recognizing the DVR signal when I plug the HDMI to the laptop. Also, if HDMI is not the correct way to accomplish my goal, then please direct me in the right direction (USB?)

Thanks for your help!

I'm not sure if you can use the HDMI port of your laptop to "record" the HDMI output of your box, since your laptop's HDMI is an "output" port, not an "input" port found on TVs and other displays.
