Black screen help!!!

okay problem: my gateway laptop powers up just the screen stays completly black I have tired everything, holding up a flash light nothing, changing the cord to the screen Nothing I need help please

I would suggest taking it to the shop. Laptops are much harder to diagnose than desktop, because you can't just open it up and experiment. Is it still under warranty?
