Does the GTX 295 actaully have 1792 of memory?

Is it really half of 1792 because its running in SLI?

the memory on a 295 is not shared so when it does operations in single card mode, it will not have access but to half of the video RAM on the card.

so does it mean if the card operate in single mode in game it will only use 896MB of its RAM?
