I want to turn off the backlight of my Toshiba Satellite 2415-S205 Laptop so that I can use it in transflective mode (say, in sunlight).There are Linux programs to do this, but none for XP, and I can't find this option in any of the Toshiba Utilities that came with the machine.

Can't you just set brightness to absolute minimum?

It's not enough. I'm also hoping to use the screen as a cheap spatial light modulator.
