Do am3 cpu's work on am2+boards?

do am3 cpu's work on am2+boards? and is there any requirements to do this?

(xfx MI-A78S-8209 mobo and amd HDX925WFK4DGI) are they compatible?

Yes. The am2+ board just needs BIOS support for the AM3 cpu. As long as AMD keeps including the DDR2 memory controller in the AM3 chips they will work.

am2 or am2+ ? Most am2+ retail boards will run the AM3's due to BIOS support. OEM's are more likely not to have updated BIOS's And some AM2 board can run the chips as well if there is a BIOS for them.

For example. Here are gigabyte am2 boards. http://www.giga-byte.com/Products/Motherboard/Products_...

A board with the red am3 next to the model can run them, the others can't.

that is true,but some mobo companies never update thier site for support even when they make a bios update for example biostar although they make quality boards
!
