Started a new job recently and planning on buying a new PC, hopefully before Christmas to replace my current system. Thought this would be the best place to go for suggestions.
APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Sometime between the end of October and Christmas BUDGET RANGE: 1000-1500, might possibly be willing to push 2000 (don't mind going on the high end of that) Before / After Rebates
SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming, movies/TV (TV mainly through hulu, etc.), school work (okay, this should PROBABLY be first on that list but my current PC is fine for that lol)
PARTS NOT REQUIRED: mouse and keyboard, monitor, speakers
PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: newegg.com, buy.com, amazon.com, but if it can be found for cheaper anywhere else that is trustworthy is fine
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: United States
PARTS PREFERENCES: Intel Corei7, ATI HD5870, 6-12gb DDR3 ram, 1TB hard drive as main drive (I have a 500gb that I'm salvaging as a secondary drive from my current case)
OVERCLOCKING: Probably not
MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920x1200. My monitor is a HannsG 28" 1080P screen.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I'd prefer a quiet PC if possible. Will be running a new copy of Windows 7 home premium on this build (that's why I'm waiting for the end of October at the earliest). As far as my gaming habits, I play a variety of games including Left 4 Dead, Half Life 2, Empire Total War, Lord of the Rings Online, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (heavily modded with mods like Qarl's Texture Pack and FCOM), Fallout 3, Crysis, etc. That's just to give you an idea of the types of games I'll be throwing at this box. Would you guys recommend I go with external sound for this next build? My sound system is a Logitech Z-5500, and if so would you recommend I salvage my Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer or go with a newer card?
