Will my Sansdigital JBOD Enclosure work with my new 27" iMac?

Hi. I have an 8 bay Sansdigital JBOD Enclosure hooked up to my Windows 7 PC. 8 hard drives showing up individually and it works great. I just received my new 27" iMac which is running OS X Lion. Would hooking up the Sansdigital JBOD Enclosure to my iMac work? I assume that I won't be able to copy data to it cause the drives are formatted for Windows but would I be able to read the data? Would I be able to read/write to the drives on the Windows side if I install Windows 7 on the iMac through bootcamp? Thanks

Why don't you try and see? "Formatted for Windows" means NTFS file system, I presume? Of course the iMac will read it, Windows or Mac OS running. It's all compatible. Don't think that Macs are so different... same hardware like the rest. You will be able to copy and read data all you like. Also, why did you get an iMac if now you're going to install Windows 7 on it? :D

Can I do harm to my drives by just plugging it in and seeing if it works? The drives are formatted as NTFS.

No harm. How does the enclosure plug in, via USB or FireWire or something?

It's USB 3.0

Should work for sure. And definitely no harm should come to the enclosure.
