AMD X4 965..

Greetings,

I just purchased an AMD X4 965 CPU with Gigabyte 790XTA-UD4 combo. My question is how do I know if the chip is a 125w or 140w? I looked all over the box and the warranty paper inside, I didn't find anything that tells me about its voltage. Is there a difference in performance between the 2 other than the voltage?

Also, has anyone use the stock cooler that comes with the CPU? If so, how do you like it so far? The cooler looks nice with 4 copper heat pipes and copper surface. This CPU is a 64bit is it not?

The AMD Phenom II X4 965 is a 95w TDP CPU see here:

As for the stock cooler, I don't know. Don't have a Phenom II. But I hear they are decent for stock and slight overclocking use.

And yes, every CPU from AMD since the Athlon 64 in 2003 has been 64bit.

^The 965 newer could be a 95W, my 955 is 125W. The link that jimmysmitty post is the Phenom IIX 4 945. And here is your answer:

And yes, is a 64 bit processor and i have the stock cooler with the 955 at 3.8GHz and is good.

Thanks for the info and links guys. I'll go with the stock cooler for now and see how it goes with my mobo.
