well, it varies, there are 2 Core 2 Duo CPU's with a speed of 2.4 and those are the following:

E4600
E6600

The Core 2 Quads that have 2.4 are listed below as well.

Q6600
Q7300

Me either, LOL, that is why i posted the only intel Core 2 CPU's that have a stock speed of 2.4, maybe the OP can figure it out from there...

A 2.4 GHz core 2 duo cpu is = to a 2.4 GHz quad core cpu in terms of speed.

The only difference between the two is one has 2 cores and the other has 4 cores.

If you were thinking that with more cores the performance is combined, like say 2.4 GHz x 2 = 4.8 Ghz, then we got some new for you. It doesn't work like that. The way it works is, each core works independently from one another.

So lets say you have dual core cpu. You bring up Microsoft word and firefox. 1 core would work on firefox and core 2 will work on Microsoft word. If you brought up just word document i core will be busy on that while the second core will sit idle. Now there is programs that can use 2+cores but those have to be programed to do so.
