Yes it's very quiet but so are others. 650W is clearly beyond what you need.

Don't buy the monitor without checking out the Costco return policy. You don't want to have to ship it off because it has dead pixels. As long as they will exchange it it sounds like a good deal. If not, try Best Buy or some such... you are right in wanting to buy it locally.

Add the other parts in there and I think you are set. no need for more fans.

Well his budget is actually 800-1500, and I said that graphics card wasn't needed because of his current games..I didn't talk about future, so nice try. With his 1500 budget, he can get 5850, so what's your point.

It seems motherboard A has some issues with the memory and overclock. I hope B could overcome it. I think UD4P is more powerful for SLI and Crossfire and thus, ideal for I7 instead of I5, right? (Isn't I5 poor with SLI and crossfire?)



2) Case

There are too many cases there. What about case 2 and 3 ($55 and $50 respectively) compared to case 1 ($90)? To be frank, I do not know how to evaluate them. I just think the former two have more and better reviews than the latter one and thus might be a better fit.

3) I am not that picky with the noise. Maybe I am not clear with this!
My friend has two computers: one is Dell XPS 8000 (i5) and really quiet, the other one is ZT Systems (AMD Phenom II 945) and the fan is very loud. This might not be a direct good comparison since the latter one has better configurations than the first one.

4) I will also play some games but not to that extreme level. The most recent one is Warcraft III (Reign of Chaos, frozen throne). I hope my graphic card could handle some recent ones reasonably well, but I am not that demanding.

5)
If I choose HD4670, 400W PSU should be enough; the other pair 4850 paired with 650W PSU. Is 650W too much for HD4850 and after overclock cpu?

I would proceed to the parts pretty soon and am inclined to pick the DELL deal (Monitor + keyboard + mouse) TONIGHT.

okay first off, how much you planning to overclock ?? small? because this affects what case you'll pick..and if new heatsink is needed or not.

GIGABYTE GA-P55M-UD2 LGA 1156 Intel P55 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard. This mobo is micro atx..so it's smaller.

Both mobos can only run x16 x4..that means when you crossfire in the future it will be a PERFORMANCE hit..which is not good. but for your budget this is the best you can do. it won't be much performance hit because it's only a 4770. but if you dont plan on crossfiring after, then both boards work.

I would pick the GA-p55-ud3r , if i were you if you are not willing to spend a little more to get UD4P

5) video card
i would suggest you paying a little more now, to get the 4850. it can play games at 1680x1050 no problems . med-high settings. the 4770 will be slow compared to it. 4850 is more future proof i guess.

3.5GHZ will be easily done with the i5 750. Make sure you know how to do it, read articles/guides.

You should purchase an aftermarket cooler.

How do you know? They only tested 5 brands and that was just testing. And it not only fried the board, it fried the processor too.

How do you know the other brands wont fail too at a later date? Theres been a ton of posts here the last few days about overclocked i5's that worked fine for a week or two and now they wont boot or they crash.

These boards are built on Intel spec and I would hold off on buying any of them. If your blows due to overclocking, they are not going to replace it.
