Play sound with both headphones and speakers with windows xp professional

I want to play sound through my desktop speakers and or my headset without disconnecting anything. My headset/microphone is connected to my USB in the back of computer and it works fine, but my speakers which has a banana plug does not play at all. Ideally I would like to turn one off and the other on or both on, if necessary. Thank you for your response.

Are you saying your speakers don't work at all or that you want both speakers and headphones to work at the same time?
