Hi I have a Msi 770T-C45 and I am thinking about upgrading my computer so it can meet new gaming standards so I am buying these parts below and I am wondering if I need to upgrade the motherboard to ?

BFG NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260
Patriot Signature 2 GB PC3-12800 DDR3 1600MHz ( I have 2 gig already (2x1gb)
Corsair CMPSU-750TX 750-Watt TX Series
AMD Phenom II X4 955 HDZ955FBGIBOX 3.2 GHz/6 MB L3/125W Processor

but do I also need this ? Asus M4A785TD-V

I am trying to lower the cost so any suggestions?

Thx in advance

Hi newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

Yeah, you also need upgrade your mobo, because your current mobo don't support DDR3.

You would go for the M4A79XTD EVO, or something like tath. What is your budget for the mobo?

Also, that GPU isn't good. Is better if you go for a 5770 or 5850

AS Saint said- you do need to Upgrade the Mobo as well to use DDR3.
However- the GTX260 is just fine as a card, but it is significantly overpriced for its performance. It will perform very similarly to a 5770, but the 5770 is only $150 and it has DX11 and Eyefinity capability. The 5850 is a great card as well, but its in the ~$300 range, which may be a good bit more than you are wanting to spend. Also- do you already have 2 GB of DDR3 or do you have 2GB of DDR2? In the latter case, you will not be able to use it with the new DDR3 you are getting. Either stay with your current Mobo and just get 2 more GB of DDR2, or upgrade the mobo and get 4 GB of DDR3.
