Here is my config :

CPU : Athlon X2 - 4200 (s939)
GPU : 7600 gt
RAM : 4 x 512 DDR
Case Sonata II with 450W

My harddrive is beginning to show some signs of dying on me. I must change it. I will have to bring it at my computer specialist so he can open the case and change the hard drive.

But I begin to wonder if i should not take the opportunity to make him change my GPU too. I would not pay more than $100 (cdn) for a new card, so I think that a 9600gt would be in my price range.

Would it be worth it ? Would it make a big difference in games ? Would it make a difference in photo and video editing application like Photoshop and Premiere Elements ? (Which bring me another question : Does a bigger hard disk can help the performance of photo and video application ? ) At this price range, would it be the best choice.

Thank you for your time and help

Well, AFAIK for photo editing plenty of memory is a must-have, especially if you are working on several large images at once, so if that is your main use then some more memory might be more useful as a upgrade.
Yes, the 9600GT would be a good upgrade for your gaming.
The Canadian Newegg site also has a few 9800GT cards, right at the top of your budget so if you can get one of those it will make a really BIG difference to your gaming:)

^ Performance and price are similar but I'd also go for the 4770, it uses less jiuce and runs cooler.

You don't need a computer specialist for doing that. You can do it on your own...

9600GT will be a big upgrade from a 7600GT.
