hi, i have a problem with my pc, and its getting really annoying now so here i am...

anyways, what happens is that my ram never wants to run faster then around 880mhz when it's rated for 1066.

the strange thing is no matter what i do i can't get it to run stable (bsod @ stock speed/endless reboot when oc'd)
800 works fine, but you know how it is...
wth should i do?
i have new ram sticks the cpu is rock solid and temps dont go above 60c :??:

System-
ga-ep45-ds3r
kingston hyperX ddr2 1066
corsair hx520w
intel q9550 usually @3.4
xfx hd5850 black

if u need more info just ask

What are timings supposed to be? Make sure you set the proper RAM voltage, timings, and speed. It will most likely be something like 1066 5-5-5-15 @ 1.9v. I am not sure though. Also, if that doesn't work, test the RAM with Memtest86+ or windows memory diagnostic tool. 20 passes should be good. Does the machine blue screen? It could be the CPU if it is OCed too.

voltage is supposed to be 2.3, have tried under and over that, timing is 5-5-5-18, not even 7-7-7-30 could make it work... (can't go higher)
and yes i have tried testing with memtest and failed :(

thx for replying.

Try three sticks, if fails, then two, if fails, then one. I have heard of memory that won't run with four sticks (or two for that matter, but generally four) even if it is the same kind of memory.

hmm, ok tried that with the old sticks, and found out that 1 was broken..
will try soon
(as i get it back together lol)

Sweet! You found one! That could very well be the only issue.

no, i meant that 1 of the old ones where broken...
(thats why they are "old")

seems to be working for now!
but i don't have the time for any longer tests now, so i'll leave it overnight and i'll see tomorrow
i'll be back... :)

ok, have tried some different setups now but the only thing that works is 1 stick in the first port? all others have crashed in windows or failed to boot.

Test another stick in that port. Check if it works. Also, check the stick you KNOW works in a different port. If you end up with all sticks working but only in the first port, it's the board.

yeah, must be the board, it did what you said and i even tried running the cpu @2ghz incase it was the psu, but no... strange thing is this mb has been doing this since i got it a while ago (can't remember but it was just before the release of the i3/5/7's)

Well, if you can still return it, I would do that. Obviously it doesn't like dual channel mode or else all other RAM slots are somewhat damaged.

i don't think i could return it now, but at least i know whats wrong with it, thx for the help
