It's been long rumored to release at the end of October but with no hints leaking out lately it's in doubt at this point. Still expect it to release before nVidia releases their DX11 cards.
well I think ati is waiting for nvidia to make its move with fermi before the 5870X2 (or 5970) is released, so it might take a while. There really isn't any need for it in the market (yet) and ati is having hard time keeping up with the demand for the single chip cards as it is....

I read Friday that the 5890 will release at the end of November forgot what site it was. Not sure how reliable it was either. Maybe the X2 at the same timeframe sounds about right.

Or to tweak out driver glitches and build up stock. Regardless, I don't think they are in any huge rush to get it out as there is little competition for the 5870 currently (beyond the 295 of course).
