I'm looking to build my first homebuilt system. I live in the Netherlands and prefer to use the site www.alternate.nl. I was wondering if this build is maybe an overkill for my 1600x1200 monitor. Any help would be appreciated. My budget is around 1200-1700 euros, but it's not a very strict budget, as it's a birthday present for me :p

Purchase Date: Around 25 oct, by b'day.

USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST: Gaming, gaming, gaming, surfing, being fast :p

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor

PREFERRED WEBSITE FOR PARTS: www.alternate.nl

PARTS PREFERENCES: Intel i7-920 and ATI HD58xx please :D

OVERCLOCKING: Yes, but not a high overclock, just around 40% overclock stable.
CROSSFIRE: Maybe in the future

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1600x1200, 1680x1050

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: No more waiting!

Here's my system so far:

nice setup, though I'd say a 40% overclock on an i7 920 is indeed pretty high, but certainly doable. The Asus P6T Deluxe is a nice board, but really expensive. If you are able to get ASRock boards, they are much more price friendly and still have a lot of features. The Antec 750 Watt PSU is alright, though if you can find a Corsair 750TX at a similar price, I'd go with that. For Hard drive, the Samsung F3 drives has better benchmarks than the 640GB Caviar black, and should be slightly cheaper. As for RAM, I'm usually never too picky on the manufacturer. If you can find a DDR3 1600 6GB kit with CAS Latency 8 or better, I'd go with that over the Kingston HyperX you have.

K thanks. I'm keeping the PSU as the 750TX can't do Xfire i don't think. I did switch the Caviar and the RAM for your recommendations. And the P6T Deluxe is only 10 euro's more expensive than the P6T. And I changed my CPU cooler into a Scythe Mugen 2, as 70 euros is a bit too expensive for a CPU cooler. Anyway, thanks.

The corsair 750TX does support Xfire: http://game.amd.com/us-en/CrossFire_certified.aspx though Antec units are also good too. I like the Mugen 2 as well, just take note that the included Scythe fan has a 30,000 MTBF, so if you keep your system on 24/7, you should probably replace the fan after 3 years or so. The expensive HSF combos usually include better fans, and the very best don't give you any and make you buy the fan separately. The Mugen 2 is a great value for the money though.

when the heatsink and fan come together, as in the Mugen 2. If you look at the high end stuff, like Thermalright coolers, or Promlitech Megahalems, they do not include the fan with the heatsink. Some Noctua coolers come as HSF combos, and most Xigmatek, Zalman, Coolermaster, OCZ, Thermaltake, etc package the fan and heatsink together, or actually make them part of the heatsink and really screw you over if the fan fails since they aren't easily replaceable.
