I would recommend a different motherboard if you plan to overclock. I think in tomshardware's review that MB fried on them.

gigabyte ud3r:

Same graphics card $25 cheaper, lifetime warranty:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814150441

I would switch to this heatsink:
Hyper 212+

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6835103065

CPU $10 cheaper:

http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Prod [...] y_10011084

If your looking to get the price down search newegg, zipzoomfly, and ewiz for combo deals..you can usually find a pretty good deal on mobo/cpu combo or such.

You can get a 1GB 4870 for less money.

XFX HD-487A-ZWFC Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Retail $144.99

I don't trust Seagate drives, even the 7200.12 series. I would swap it for this one:

SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive $54.99

The Sunbeam cooler won't work for the LGA1156 socket. Here's one that will:

COOLER MASTER Hyper 212 Plus Intel Core i5 & Intel Core i7 compatible RR-B10-212P-GP 120mm "heatpipe direct contact" Long life sleeve CPU Cooler - Retail $29.99

ECS is not known for making great motherboards. I would use this combo:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Comb [...] mbo.270438 (i5 750 + Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2 combo) $299.98

Don't get an IDE DVD burner.

SAMSUNG SH-S223B 22X SATA DVD Burner Black Drive Bulk $29.99

I wouldn't get a GTX 260 over a 4870 1GB. You mentioned you were possibly interested in SLI or Crossfire. The cheap P55 boards don't support SLI.

Reply to shortstuff_mt

ECS sucks. I've had so many problems with them in the past. Why don't get a MSI GD-65 board or one of the mid-rage Gigabyte board.

Reply to masterasia

Now you have the option of a 5770 instead of the 4870 if you want DX11.

i dont see a point in building a rig that will give you a constant 250+FPS in any game... You cannot tell the difference after 60-80 FPS anyways....What you want is a high frame count with some eye-candy enabled.... The 4870 1Gb will give ya a ton of frames in CoD but of course without xAA. Once you enable your xAA your FPS will drop significantly.....

That case sucks. Get an Antec 300, it's got great air flow.

+1

The Antec 300 will fit everything fine. Just make sure you take your time with the cable management.

Just wait till Windows 7 is released. You won't get you're "Free" Upgrade until March or April. And it won't be free. You'll have to pay for the DVD which is $17 or so.

Definitely not XP. You can pre-order Windows 7 for $99. You can also get it for $30 if you're a student.

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 1-Pack for System Builders - OEM $99.99

www.win741.com

If you absolutely have to get an OS that ships before next week, use this combo:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Comb [...] 22-152-181 (Samsung F3 500GB + 64-bit Windows Vista with a free upgrade coupon to Windows 7) $154.98

No... lol the upgrade is free

Its the same as when Vista came out and the egg was selling XP with a free upgrade to Vista. I bought that same OS and I did not have to pay a cent more.....

Win 7 will be released in 6 days, I dont know where you got the March/April date....

That is the main reason why the free upgrade is good till Oct 19th ........
