If you know the clock speed and this is set based on the worst-case signal propagation in a CPU, can you figure out how "physically" long an average circuit traverse is for a particular benchmark algorithm? What would be an average physical circuit length range (i.e., path length) in a typical modern CPU? Could this be related to the die length (fraction or integer multiples)? Is there any reliable way to calculate a gross signal propagation speed in terms of a fraction of light speed? Is there any good reference concerning CPU propagation speeds and physical circuit lengths within the CPU?
