Safe to plug old IDE Hard drive into my new motherboard?

I need to grab some data off of an old hard drive. It uses IDE and a 4pin molex power connector.
WOuld it be safe to plug it into my new motherboard? I have a Gigabyte 890GPA motherboard and it has an IDE slot on it.

Of course - the IDE port on the motherboard was intended to allow people to use their old IDE DVD or HD drives. Why wouldn't it be safe, lol?

absolutely... its not like the hard disk will destroy ur motherboard and vice-versa of course...
